Raptor 6 The Quiet Professionals Ronie Kendig Books

Well...I thought it would be good to listen to after my surgery so I even spent the couple EXTRA dollars to upgrade it to an Audiobook...ugh. Awful. The narrator was terrible the story...as far as I got to was 45 min into it and I was like...I gotta do something different before I loose my mind. Was not at ALL what I thought this book was going to be going. I might give another chance when im not feeling so cranky and sore and...CRANKY! But for now..im just gonna leave it alone!

Raptor 6 The Quiet Professionals Ronie Kendig Books Reviews

Ronie Kendig delivers you into the hands of the enemy in Raptor 6. Captain Dean Watters leads the Special Forces team in Afghanistan and is surprised when American missionary teacher, Zahrah Zarrick, captures his thoughts and his heart.

The story is filled with great prose and description real enough it'll make you cringe. The storyline draws you in but not before you're overwhelmed with the military lingo-to the point it's just a bit too much. Even my soldier husband found it difficult to stay connected to the story because there was just so much militaristic dialogue, description, and facts. At the beginning of the book there is a key to help the civilian understand all of the acronyms but who wants to go back and find out what how the AAR was written for SOCOM because the CID discovered OPSEC was breached?

After you make it through the first several chapters of getting acquainted to the military world of Captain Watters you're finally introduced to the real heart of the story. I was drawn in once the story started flowing and I found myself right there with the characters. The suspense was just right. However, towards the end of the story it felt rushed and almost unbelievable how quickly the rescue happened. I'm finding this happens more often in stories lately. The author takes great effort to deliver you into the story world and you're there, living with the characters like a fly on the wall watching it all go down and then swoop!! It's over and you're thinking, "Did I blink?" One of the more disappointing issues was how quickly the nasty, evil, antagonist dies. I wanted him to suffer in ways worthy of his actions. That makes me sound a bit sadistic but I just wanted a more satisfying ending for the creep.

All in all the book was wonderfully written. The author was very detailed in her writing and created a story that I will read again and recommend. This is the first book in the series and I'm looking forward to the next one.
I’m thankful for the review copy of the audio book that dropped me into Afghanistan’s Taliban activity, with military team Raptor 6. Readers experience what they do on and off their missions. I liked how the narrator acted out this drama with different voices and excitement that enhanced the story.

This novel shows how some civilians are harassed by the Taliban, and what happens when they are captured and the things they endure in that captivity.

This story grabbed my attention right from the start. It’s believable and is Ronnie's most realistic book to date. I felt like I was one of the guys on the Raptor 6 team; it was as if I were in a military video game deployed to help in their mission. I was comforted to know they had my back.

The author gives readers a peek into what these Quiet Professionals do and how they risk their lives for their country and team members. We take for granted what others do for us daily so we can live free! This is a fast paced emotional read, with a splash of romance and a touch of humor for a great mix. It’s a book I couldn't stop listening to (I read the audio book)

Captain Walters tells the troops, “Speed, surprise, violence of action – three principles necessary for successful engagement of any enemy in combat…Their mission is not so different from mine, from those I fight for and with on a daily basis – to act without hesitation and with fierce action so the enemy can be caught unaware...

The captain explains, “This is not about us…this is about freedom, about securing innocent lives. Doing violence on their behalf.”

This is the first book in the Quiet Professional series. Warning this book is not for the faint of heart. I’m glad I had the audio book on this one because I don’t think I would have read the book as quickly. There were some parts in the prison camp that were brutal and hard to think about someone actually being tortured like this author described. I’ve read all of this author’s book and this one seemed a little more violent in description than the others, but then again they are up against the Taliban.

Thanks to Ronnie Kendig for showing us what others go through daily so we can enjoy freedom on many levels. I like how she naturally interweaves the faith message into this story. It’s believable and not preachy. This book makes for a good read and a great one for book club. It’s rich. You’ll have lively discussions I’m sure.

I read Ronie Kendig's A Breed Apart series and loved it, so I was very excited for her new set to come out. I knew that once I started reading, I'd want to finish the set, so I waited till all the books in the quiet professional series came out.

I enjoyed whenever I bumped into Dean in the other series, so I looked forward to get to know him better. The book started out very exciting. It was divided between following him, following his girl, following Todd Archer (one of the six), and then a smattering of other characters... but mainly those three.

The action in the beginning was very adventuresome and what one has come to expect from a Kendig book. The relationship between Dean and Zahrah was very interesting to follow. It was good to get a perspective on what soldiers and their family's face from the side story on Todd and Amy.

What I didn't care for as much was that about 1/2 of the book was taken up with (from my view) quite graphic torture and sexual abuse scenes. Yes, I know that soldiers and Christians face things like that. Yes, Ronie has had snatches of it in other books... but it just kept going on and on and on. Till I felt like I was reading a Voice of the Martyrs magazine. A little bit gets the idea across, this got to the point of feeling sadistic.

So, I enjoyed the book. Enjoyed getting to know the characters. Loved the adventure. Was a little sickened by all the torture and sexual abuse.
